Thirty Day Boyfriend by Whitney G.

Emily Johnson just accomplished one of the greatest accomplishments in her professional career. Two years as an Executive Assistant for the ruthless Nicolas Wolf. On her two year anniversary, she attempts to take her talents elsewhere when it is thwarted by the powerful Mr. Wolf who has other plans for his brilliant Assistant. When a deal that could cost his company billions is jeopardized because of his playboy reputation, Nic presents Emily with an opportunity she can’t refuse. Can Nic and Emily work together for 30 days or will their hidden attraction get in the way?

Thirty Day Boyfriend is not your typical insta-love office romance, it is a love story about two professionals who fell in love without realizing it. I love Emily’s and Nicolas’s relationship, they have a flirty banter and they challenge each other.  The supporting characters in this story were fresh and honest and it added depth to this story.  Emily’s character felt real, I could tell a lot of research went into making her come alive on the pages.

The places in the story were eloquently constructed adding credibility to a developing romance. Thirty Day Boyfriend took a cliche love story and made it into a cozy read with real characters. The only growth area in this story is it was too short, I wanted more scenes and more time with the story. This was my first time reading a book from the author Whitney G. and I look forward to reading more from her. This story was refreshing and spicy if you’re snowed in or under your covers looking for a good book to transport you into a good love story look no further than Thirty Day Boyfriend.

Boss- Paperback

Carissa Elliot is on vacation in Miami mourning the loss of her mother in the club with her best friends and the only family she has. There she meets a smooth and handsome man who is hard to resist. After a near death experience, Carissa learns the dangerous man she’s been running away from is responsible for her father’s death and her mother’s demise. To protect her loved ones she enters a life of organized crime to exact her revenge on the man who’s responsible. Alex Mc Clean is the head of his family’s criminal syndicate, he can’t get the sexy blonde from Miami out of his head. When he discovers the woman he’s can’t get out of his system is holding the key to take down the man responsible for his brother’s death he sets out to find her. What he discovers is a strong and sexy crime boss who is not willing to give her trust or her heart. Can  Alex keep his head in the game long enough to finally get answers he needs or will the sexy blonde he met in Miami get under his skin? Secrets, lies, and betrayal are a few things that stand in the way of this modern day Bonnie and Clyde.

Boss is the first book in The Trinity series, it is a romantic suspense with a happily for now ending. There are no cliffhangers in this first installation of the series by J.L Lora.  Boss is a multi-dimensional book with complex characters each with their own demons and motivation. The story is initially centered around Clarissa and Alex but as the story progresses one gets glimpses into the lives of the people who love and protect them.

The setting of each place was immaculately constructed to transport the reader to the place abandoning their reality to the world that was created. Boss is a well-developed at the edge of your seat romantic thriller. The only growth area in this book is the suspense should have been held a little longer. The dialogue was strong and kept the reader informed without being confusing, J.L Lora took a complex plot with multi-layered characters and delivered each scene with ease. Boss was a great read and I look forward to reading more from this author.

I received a copy of this book from IndieSagePr in exchange for my honest review.

Review & Book Giveaway: Summer Maiden: Persephone’s Fall by Author Eva Darcy

Book: Summer Maiden: Persephone’s Fall

Publication date: September 11, 2017

Sold by: Amazon Digital Services LLC

Price: free with Kindle Unlimited, $2.99 without

Link to purchase: Summer Maiden: Persephone’s Fall

Summer Maiden: Persephone’s Fall is a standalone erotic charged retelling of a classic Greek myth. Persephone daughter of Demeter Goddess of harvest and agriculture is taken by Hades the God of the underworld, Ms. Darcy puts spicy spin on a much-loved classic. This book is not for the faint of heart, this story contains scenes that some might find disturbing. If you have a great appreciation for dark erotic romance and can keep an open mind, this will be a satisfying short read.

The story opens with Kore a young woman eager to see the world, she falls in love with the idea of being desired. She soon learns that seduction is a dangerous game with costly consequences. Aidoneus is a tortured soul who does not believe in love, when his eyes lands on the beautiful Kore he is drawn to her innocence and her naiveté. Kore learns that being in love is not all roses and sunshine when your love interest is the God of the Underworld. Erotic romance writer and history scholar Eva Darcy weaves her extensive knowledge of the Greek Gods into a tasty morsel of forbidden romance. The only growth area in this story is it was too short, it leaves an ache to read more and to know more.

The characters were complex, well-developed and believable. The scenes were painted exquisitely on each page, pulling the reader from reality and into a world created by Ms. Darcy. If I had to describe this story in a few words it would be fresh, enticing and electrifying. This is a story told by maiden Kore and then by Persephone the Queen of the Underworld. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Darcy.

After reading this story I loved it so much that I am giving four of my readers an opportunity to read this wonderful book. Below is a link to a digital book giveaway, four lucky readers will be gifted Summer Maiden: Persephone’s Fall by Eva Darcy. In support of indie authors don’t forget to leave a review as a courtesy, it is not required but will be appreciated.

Summer Maiden: Persephone’s Fall Digital Book Giveaway

About the Author

Eva Darcy is a writer of erotica with a grad degree in history, who used to teach Western Civ. (And secretly spent too much class time dreaming about the stories behind the ancient stories…) Love of writing, love of history, and a slightly naughty romantic streak have all converged into writing stories based on mythology and history. She began with the ancient Greek myth of Persephone because that myth has always resonated so strongly with her. When she saw Bernini’s “Rape of Proserpina” statue in the Borghese Gallery in Rome, she knew she had to write Kore’s story. SUMMER MAIDEN is a stand-alone story, but Darcy intends to write more stories in this world, so expect more cross-over characters in other erotic romance novellas. Next up? Apollo and Daphne.

Review: Alpha’s Temptation

Alpha's Temptation (Bad Boy Alphas #1)Alpha’s Temptation by Renee Rose

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Tech Billionaire Jackson King is an Alpha lone wolf who does not need the comforts of a pack. One run in with hacker Kylie McDaniel and the sexy hacker has King wishing for things he thought he could stay away from. The attraction between them is undeniable and her presence sends his wolf in a mating frenzy. Jackson is curious to explore this new lust filled desire quest in getting to know Kylie in ways she could never imagine; an unknown enemy threaten to disrupt his quiet life he built for himself. Danger seem to follow Kylie the first woman who ever catches his wolf interest but can he trust her.

Alpha’s Temptation by Renee Rose and Lee Savino is an action-packed, moderately paced erotic fantasy that stars a hacker Kylie McDaniel who is due to her dark past must live under another identity to keep danger at bay. She catches the attention of Billionaire Jackson King, CEO with a reputation of keeping to himself. Kylie tries to build a normal life for herself but danger catches up to her just when she feels safe. Alpha’s Temptation’s has life-like imagery and carefully crafted characters.
The imagery in this story showcases the authors’ knowledge of the terrain and places introduced; the devil is in the small details and that made the story credible keeping me engrossed in the world they created. The characters were expertly built showing innocence and flaws clearly depicting the human condition. On my hot meter I would rate this book spicy, attention was spent on a realistic progression of the relationship. This is a sexy read with traces of Bdsm that might make some others uncomfortable, it was subtle and not over the top.
The only flaw in this book is the suspense should be held a little longer the problem was resolved too quickly and the ending was cliché. I was given a copy of this book from Netgalley and I was not required to provide a review.
This was a great read, and I look forward to reading from these authors again.

Aversion: Review & Giveaway

41o5z7kXQHL._SX326_BO1,204,203,200_

Take a moment, think back to every reckless decision you’ve ever made. Sneaking out late after your parents grounded you, ditching class to hang out with friends or getting fake ids to get into a popular club. Now think about every sensible decision you’ve ever made, the split decisions we make and in hindsight we are grateful to have averted disaster. Are we really in control of our actions?

Gemma Green is not your everyday loner at high school, she is a part of an ancient secret society called Averters. Averters are our mortal guardians and their sole purpose in life is to keep us from making reckless decisions that would yield lifelong consequences. Gemma has trained all her life to be a competent Averter. As the only female of her kind, she must work twice as hard and trust no one. After her first Aversion leaves traces of an error, she slowly understands all that she is and the many secrets of the Averter society. Russ is a handsome, popular athlete at school and Gemma’s new-found temptation. Gemma feels a strange connection with Russ, one she doesn’t intend to explore. Gemma soon learns you can’t out run fate and even an Averter can be surprised.

Aversion is the first book in the mentalist series by author Kenechi Ugodu. Aversion is an action-packed young adult fantasy romance; readers are transported in the mind of Gemma Green the only female Averter of her kind. If you think puberty was scary, try adding the complications supernatural changes. The chemistry between the main characters Russ and Gemma is  reminiscent of  first love. It shows love at its purest and most innocent form. Aversion tackles themes like self-discovery, growing up and doing the right thing. Each character was carefully crafted and the small town Sandes became a real place.

Sandes is a small town where most of the story takes place. Kenechi described this quiet town appealing to the reader’s five senses. I can smell the stench of an old cafe and I can describe the feeling of getting an ice-cream sundae at a popular hangout.

If you are a paranormal fantasy junkie and you’re looking for a unique fix look no further. Aversion is a beautifully written story with lessons applicable to real life. Come join Gemma and Russ on their many adventures. Welcome to the real world where Averters are the only one saving us from a curse and a blessing, free will.

Reborn: Princess of the blood Review & Giveaway

Reborn

Marie Josette d’Orgemont cousin of Louis XVI was erased from history and forced to live in the shadows. One tragic night robbed her of her life, her loved ones and now she is a prisoner to the night. Family is the only important thing to her, after living for centuries as vampire the only thing she cares about is preserving her human blood line and protecting her last human relative Abigail.

Odin Ulfsson is next in line to be Alpha of his pack. Being immortal and without love has made him restless . He resists his father’s orders to marry a mate of his choosing. When rogues threaten to reveal their existence, he runs into a sexy vampire who he can’t resist. Marie haven’t felt an intense attraction to anyone other than her late human husband; Odin unleashes a desire in her and she can’t seem to ignore it. Marie must stay focused to protect Abigail but a certain sexy wolf won’t let her out of his grasp.

Reborn the first book in the “Princess of The Blood” series is an addictive paranormal romance with a special helping of history. Reborn holds your attention and doesn’t let go until the end. Marie is a well-developed and relatable character that mesmerize, not only the wolf Odin but the reader as well. This is a well-researched book that touches on old traditions and breath-taking imagery of France and the paranormal world nestled in the states.

A love story within a love story is the only words to describe Reborn, the supporting characters Abigail and Egon adds color and depth to an amazing love story. A perfect exploration of an immortal in a modern world, I believed in these characters and I fell in love with them. The only downside of reading this book is it didn’t quench my thirst, it left me desperate and wanting more. Reborn is a beautifully told paranormal love story with a cliffhanger. I look forward to following the story; after reading this story the characters have become a permanent fixture in my life and I must see where life takes them.

Thank you, Ultimate Fantasy Books, for giving me the opportunity to read this wonderful book.

the light in the sound

The light in the sound is a beautifully written laugh out loud, honest story of a woman named Rachel Richardson who suffers from personal traumas and is trying to find love in a world where sex and drugs are easier to get than true love. I am a hopeless romantic always searching for a good love story and what I found here after reading this book is a true gem. The light in the sound by Vanessa Gonzales is not a love story but a story about life. I found a hero in Rachel and  despite her jaded past she moved about life unapologetically. The setting is Seattle, Washington; the description of the surroundings and the climate was so delicately and beautifully applied making the story credible. As a reader when I take a writer’s hand and they lead me into their world, I like to become engrossed in the story in a personal way staying at each character’s most vulnerable time and leaving at the end. In every good story there is a change in the main character and I sense Rachel has finally found peace within herself or found a sense of peace in the chaos of her life.

The characters were colorful, vibrant and sometimes weird but they reeked of normalcy. There are far too many books with characters that can’t appeal to normal people, whose life is imperfect but who have no choice but to use the cards they are dealt. Each character was expertly woven into the story showing Mrs. Gonzales commitment to quality in the craft of writing. The only downside of the book was I needed more, I fell in love with Rachel and I wanted her to succeed and find happiness. I enjoyed this book so much that I am giving 4 lucky readers the opportunity to read this wonderful story. The book is first come first served, kindle edition.

Ahmed Al-Qasimi also known as the Playboy Sheikh seeks to live his life to the fullest. Being the youngest son of the Sultan of Sharjah comes with its special kind of hell. Tired of his brothers and father’s lectures he takes special interest in a caterer Melanie Martin. Melanie is a hardworking chef with her own catering company, she never had to depend on anyone but herself. When the sexy Sheikh Ahmed unleashes his charm she melts and realizes she doesn’t want to turn down his advances. Known for her all work no play demeanor this sexy brunette finally let’s her hair down and shows this sexy royal a side a New York he’ll never forget. Sultan Mohammed Al-Qasimi has had enough of his son’s reckless behavior bringing dishonor to their family name. He arranges a marriage for his youngest son with a woman he sees as the perfect wife to tame is irresponsible son. Ahmed is faced with a tough decision, he must choose between his duty as the Sultan’s son or true love. Can these two star-crossed lovers find true love no matter the obstacles in their way or will duty and life little surprises get in the way?

The Sheikh’s Accidental heir is the second book in the Sharjah series and it can be read as a standalone. This is a happily ever after love story with no cliffhangers. This book shows the allure and the beauty of New York City and it further delves into Arabian culture and customs. The characters were imperfect and relatable. Melanie Martin is an independent woman from a free world and it was refreshing to see her navigate a culture where women don’t have the same rights as she does in her home land. Real fears present themselves but the story shows me why I love romance so much; love really conquers all.

The only growth areas in this book was I would have loved to see more of Sharjah the place. She showed him her home (NYC) it would have been nice to see Ahmed in his own land showing her the splendor of a country with such a rich culture. I enjoyed reading this book and as a follower of the series, Sharjah became a real place for me. The Sheikh’s Accidental heir is a story about love, family and making tough decisions.

Review: Pushing her limits

Pushing Her Limits (Masters of Adrenaline, #3)Pushing Her Limits by Sparrow Beckett

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Pushing her limits is a sexy twist on Cops and Robbers, where the cop fall in love with the robber after lust-filled trysts. Altas Larson is a highly intelligent computer whiz and a master car thief. He was raised to lie, cheat and steal. He’s also from a family of master thieves who steal from the rich. Their operation is a highly-sophisticated approach to car stealing. Mila Palmer is a female detective with a lot to prove, being the daughter of a disgraced officer and being a woman in an old boy’s club has her working harder than ever. When she meets Altas her perception of right and wrong shifts as she is sucked in his world of BDSM, she uncovers truths about herself while trying to stay on the right side of the law. Altas starts off as an assignment and quickly the clearly drawn lines start to blur.
Pushing her limits is an action-packed erotic romance, it is a great read.

The authors successfully craft complex characters that made me the reader question my own sense of morality. It is third book in the Masters of Adrenaline series and it can be read as a standalone. Pushing her limits gave you a sneak peek into the lives of past characters which added value and credibility to the story. The book pushed me into their world and never let me out until the story was over. This is not for the faint of heart, it is an erotic romance pushing the boundaries of what is usually acceptable in regular relationships. The setting is Las Vegas hot sun, desert, luxury cars, mansions and a fast-paced way of life.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review from NetGalley.

Sandra Owens: Jack of hearts

jack-of-hearts

What does it take to take down a notorious drug lord? One sexy and bad-ass undercover FBI agent and his team which consists of his brothers. There is only one problem and it is in the form of a beautiful red-head who happens to be the cousin of the man he must take down. Alex Gentry co-owns a biker bar with his brothers which also happens to be the perfect cover for all their operations. These FBI siblings tries to keep their baby brother in line after her falls for Madison Parker, the niece of a powerful and notorious drug lord.

The most important things to Madison is the business that she and her best friend Lauren opens and her mother. Madison’s priorities start to shift after she meets a mysterious, sexy dark-haired acquaintance of her cousin. All she wants is to be as far as possible from her mother’s family but they find a way of pulling her back.

Jack of hearts is a fast-paced, jaw dropping contemporary romance where Agent Alex Gentry falls for the niece of the man he was ordered to take down. Sandra Owens displays mastery in creating characters in this novel. Each character was complex and through reading you can feel the connect of each relationship, when I read romance I love a realistic progression of romance. Each scene served to strengthen the credibility of each character and the depth of their relationship, it was realistic and smooth in pacing.

Jack of hearts gave you a small snippet into the lives of the supporting characters, breathing life into the possibility of another great story to read. An action packed forbidden love story, with swoon worthy love scenes and action-filled scenes with the right amount of suspense.

As a regular reader of Sandra Owens, she does not disappoint in this new series. The new plot was refreshing and her characters was diverse. I love stories that transport me into the world created by the author and hold me there until the very end and Jack of Hearts do that elegantly.

The only growth area for this book is introducing new relationships between supporting characters did not flow as smoothly. The book ends with the possibilities of a relationship with the other Gentry brothers.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review from NetGalley.

I provided links below for anyone interested in reading Jack of Hearts. Jack of hearts is available to read for free with a subscription to Kindle Unlimited, a book subscription service that allows readers to borrow up to 10 books at a time and access up to 700,000 books.
